Here's what
to do.

Open Discord using the same device type used for the purchase.

On desktop, go to User Settings → Subscriptions; on mobile, open Billing Settings → Manage Nitro.

Choose Cancel for Nitro or Nitro Basic and follow the prompts until the expiry date appears.
BEFORE YOU CONFIRM
Discord says you may need the device type used to subscribe. Server boosts and other subscription types have separate cancellation instructions.
After cancellation
Look for an expiry date and Pending Cancellation in subscription settings.
